There were two reasons why we chose to travel all the way to Malaysia in the spring of 2009. Our son, Tim, and his family, Shauna, Annie and Kaleb, were living in Penang, Malaysia. Penang is actually an island. We have found over the years the importance of actually seeing where our children live, not just hearing about it. So that was one reason we went to Malaysia, the other reason was because our grandson, Kaleb, was graduating from high school over there. What better reason could there be?
Our daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Gene, also went for which we were very thankful! They actually took care of us. It was a great, unbelievable trip.
#1 There were temples everywhere.
#2 We were right on the Indian Ocean!
#3 We went up a mountain and saw such beautiful greenery.
# 4 A monkey above us in a tree!
# 5 A spider above us on a web!
# 6 Fishing boats were out every morning.
# 7 A lone woman basking in the solitude.
# 8 Everywhere we saw Muslem women.
# 9 Our room was on the 14th floor facing the ocean! What a view! The second week we stayed in the home of Tim and Shauna.
#10 There were motor bikes everywhere! This man was taking cartons of eggs to market! I hope he didn’t hit a bump!
#11 Even Tim joined the ranks of motorbike owners and riders!
#12 Jerry and me relaxing on the beach!
#13 Sunrise over the Indian Ocean taken from our hotel room deck.
#14 A market place.
#15 Close up…
#16 Jerry and me waiting to go up Penang Hill.
#17 Exotic plants.
# 18 Lily pads.
# 19 A guy para sailing…Oh wait, it’s Kaleb!
# 20 Beautiful flowered tree.
# 21 These lily pads were full of croaking frogs! If you click on the picture you can see some of the frogs.
# 22 The whole gang! Anita, Jerry, Annie, Tim, Pam, Gene, Shauna and The Graduate, Kaleb!
# 23 a woman painting in a Batik shop. We each got to paint a picture on a square of cloth. It was so fun. I can’t seem to find all of my pictures here. After painting we left our masterpieces there to be waxed over night. Then they were delivered to us to keep.
# 24 Another ornate temple! They were all over.
# 25 Shauna’s feet! The girls all got to go to a spa…fish spa! I’d never heard of it before but I was game. These little fish ate off our feet! We were all squealing and laughing! It really tickled. After being in this pool for a little while we went on to the next pool and put our feet in…bigger fish enjoyed a meal compliments of our feet! Then we went on to the third and last pool. Bigger fish! They ate whatever was left on our feet! My feet never felt so good when it all over! I’d recommend a fish spa to anyone and everyone! It was a whole new experience for me. I thought it would be gross but it was exquisite! In other words, I loved it!.
So there was our wonderful experience in Malaysia! But there is so much more I could write about. Like enjoying all the graduation activities; the luncheon; Baccalaureate; Graduation; the play, A Tad of Trouble. Kaleb had a major part! We ate in some unique restaurants: cafe’s across the busy street, Korean restaurant, the spinning restaurant at the top of a big hotel! Memories we’ll never forget!
Hi Mom,
Great pictures of our beloved Penang! Such great memories. A couple of corrections for you – pic #8 is of Muslim women and pic #19 is of Kaleb para-sailing. Glad you can recall your travels on your blog.

Thanks for commenting, Shauna! Thanks also for the corrections. I think there is another mistake…how do you spell where we painted on the cloth? I’ll make the other corrections.

I simply wished to thank you very much all over again. I do not know the things I might have followed in the absence of those creative concepts shared by you regarding that subject. Previously it was a very intimidating issue for me, however , being able to view your specialized mode you processed it made me to cry for fulfillment. I am happier for the help and then believe you recognize what an amazing job that you are accomplishing training some other people with the aid of a web site. Probably you’ve never got to know all of us.
