A Job Well Done

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWith all the rain and water this spring our pond way overflowed it’s banks. In fact water was running over the far side of our long circle drive. I have a few pictures of our pond overflowing. Our dock shows several feet out!

This picture is really confusing but that’s the dock and the trees and also trees reflected in OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAthe water!

Jerry was afraid our tube going under and across the drive must have been clogged. So today our son-in-law, Gene, our son, Rob, along with Jerry decided to check it out!

Oh, what a job they got into! First of all they dug the OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAtube out with a pick and shovel. What a job… when it was free all around they put a chain around it to pull it out of the trench with Rob’s Dodge Durango. It was so full of mud and leaves, etc it would hardly budge.

They finally got it out but it put a big bend in the 0427131540tube. This picture shows how it was bent in the middle! It was full of mud, roots, leaves, etc. Rob and Gene worked to clear the tube from both ends…finally it was clear.

With the tube out the water suddenly was flowing out of the pond, through the trench across the driveway! The blue water at the top of this picture is the over flowing pond 0427131539and the orange colored water is running across the driveway in the trench where the tube was and will be again.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAGene took off his shoes and socks, rolled up his pant legs and went wadding in the stream to dig it out and make room for replacing the tube.

But first, of course, it had to be straightened. Jerry put on his thinking cap! Here was his idea… pull the tube over between two trees.  Hook the chain around the tube and around the back of the Dodge Durango to pull it against a third tree! It worked!!! The tube bent back into a straight line!!! I knew I married a genius!!!

The tube was put back into the trench, water flowing through it like it was supposed to! Next came pushing the dirt and gravel around and over it! What a job, well done! Gene and Rob held it down while Jerry used OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAhis Wheel Horse to fill in where the drive was. What a job…well done!

Pam, Elmise, Armon and I were there watching, bringing drinks, encouraging them, and being go-fers any time they needed OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAsomething. Pam even got some crocheting done!

I was really afraid we had worked the guys too hard today. But…when Gene was praying for our food at supper he really touched my heart! He thanked God for the good day we all had today, first the bike ride he and Pam went on, then the work accomplished in the driveway! God is so good!!!

This morning Pam and Gene left here early to go on a bike ride on the Rail 0427131211Trail. Pam rode 31 miles and Gene rode 33 miles. So this was a very full day for them! Yes, God is so good!
