We were traveling from Chicago to Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada with our daughter, Pam, and son-in-law, Gene. The first day, still in Wisconsin, we stopped at a rest area. There was
a nice sign and the beginning of a trail. Ah, a good hike and a beautiful water fall at the end would be so refreshing!
So we began a carefree jaunt through the woods. Pam, Gene and Jerry are enjoying the exercise.
The trail went on and on…
Oh, the trail changed to a nice well built board walk! Pam and Gene are still smiling!
Jerry is getting tired. There seems to be no end to the trail!!!
But we keep going…the picture of a refreshing waterfall spurring us on!
Finally we come to the end of the board walk! Oh, oh, where’s the refreshing waterfall? Where’s the beauty?
Trees! Nothing but trees…
Trees! Every direction! We like trees but we thought the prize at the end was to be a beautiful refreshing waterfall. Nothing but trees…and we still have to walk all the way back!
Sometimes experiences we have remind me of a truth in the Bible. Last summer was a perfect example. We walked and walked but in the end there was nothing but trees!
There is a way that seems right to a man. But the ends thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 14:10
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
Flowers fade; grasses wither; But the Word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:8
