Today is the second Sunday of Advent. However, I’m starting out with the first Sunday Advent Wreathe because in my old age I forgot it last week. I didn’t forget advent, we lit our candle at the dinner table and again that evening with our small group. I did forget to put it on my blog. Sooo, here is the first candle lit last Sunday and scripture to go with it.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 NIV
This takes us to today: the second Sunday of Advent.
Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:19-21
