I can’t help but notice all the changes…
Not too many years ago girls were embarrassed to have their bra straps show. Today they show them on purpose!
Folks used to dress up for church. Not because it was a spiritual requirement but out of respect for God’s House. Today they wear whatever!
Friends used to drop in unannounced for coffee and a short visit. Today an invitation or at least a phone call is required!
Kids used to play outside unsupervised. Today they prefer to play inside!
Dogs used to run free. Today they must be tied, walked on a leash and only allowed to run free in a dog park!
Deals used to be made with a handshake. Today a signed contract is required.
Kids used to raise money for orphanages by going door to door. Today donations are sent in by check.
Letters used to be written and mailed to keep in touch. Today e-mail and fb, etc. take the place of mail. Mail has a new name: snail mail.
Prices have skyrocketed. A candy bar used to be a nickle. Today it’s almost a dollar. Gas used to be .25 a gallon. Today its over $3.00 a gallon… and sometimes over $4.00!
I babysat, as a kid, for 25 cents an hour. Today it’s more like $3.00 an hour.
Halloween costumes used to made up from old clothes. Today costumes are purchased at a store.
Respect was the norm. Today there is little or no respect.
Guys used to walk on the outside of the sidewalk when with a girl, opening the door letting a girl or woman go in first and opening the car door for a date. Today guys walk on the in-side, let a girl or woman open her own door. Little or no respect is shown.
Men always removed their hats when they entered a building. Today many men wear their hats inside, even during a worship service!
Folks used to take pride in their looks. Today many feel it’s okay to look scrubby, no matter where they are. Dress codes must be utilized by businesses to keep a decent appearance.
Yes, I know it’s the pendulum swinging. I can’t wait for it to swing back…
Hi Grandma. Yeah is is to bad. I always dress up for church every sunday and I am polite and respectful but I understand what you mean…. I wish pray and hope it will swing back… ❤ love you Grandma!!

Hi Sydney! Thanks for your comment! I’m proud of you for the way you dress and behave so respectfully but so many folks don’t. I don’t understand it but there doesn’t seem to be anything I can do about it. 😉

You know, not all hope is lost. I have to give my brother credit. He’s been married seven years and he still opens the door for his wife, every time they are together. He takes his hat off inside too. A little glimmer of hope. I never understood him opening the door for me. It always just seems like an extra bit of time that I have to wait on him, but next time, I’ll be more patient and be glad when he opens the door for me.
And PS, happy upcoming birthday, in case I miss you on the actual day. 😉

Someone once said to me that the pendulum swings right, then left but I will be so happy when it settles somewhere in the middle. So correct for out time.

Thanks! You’re very kind. Yes, I developed this myself with the help of wordpress. It’s exactly what the title implies: all in the day of me. It’s about my interests, my loves, my hopes, whatever I’m up to that day. The pictures I use for the header and in the blog are my own pictures that I’ve taken. Good luck in creating your blog.

Hi grandma I thought I would add one thing to this post …very good though but the babysitting thing I charge 5 dollars an hour not but how many kids but how many hours it is so even if it’s 10 kids I charge 5 dollars per hour . I am nice but some people would charge more than that of there older. Love you ❤ Syd

Oh my goodness… that’s quite a stretch! Twenty-five cents an hour to five dollars an hour! Of course a lot of years have gone by. I kept pretty busy with all my baby sitting jobs and I know you do too. 🙂
