Saturday Jerry was out with his little saw trimming off small low branches. It wasn’t anything strenuous. He’s not able to work like he used to. Wellllll, one of the little branches went the wrong way and hit him in his right eye. It didn’t really hurt but it was irritating. We worked on some things together and I didn’t notice anything different about his eye.
A couple of hours later Elmise came over, looked at Grandpa, and said, “Grandpa, what did you do to your eye?” I went over to look at it and couldn’t believe it. It was so ugly-looking I couldn’t look at it!
I immediately called Jessica. It’s so great having my nurse daughter-in-law living next door! She came right over, looked at it and said we need to call the on-call doctor. She did it for me, he said the eye needed to be looked at.
We spent the evening at ER. That’s not a fun place to be. His eye was examined by a doctor and a RN. Jerry could see out of it and could read. He didn’t feel pain. But he had no whites in his eye. It was and is still very ugly.
I have drops to put in three times a day for three days. He’s to lay low for about a week. If there are any problems or if it doesn’t begin healing we’re to go back to ER or to our eye doctor.
We’re so thankful it wasn’t a worse hit! He could have scratched his eyeball or worse… We’re thanking God for His protective Hand over us.
Praying for healing!!
