Travel Log #7 Israel 1998 Qumran and the Dead Sea

What a thrill for Jerry and me to go to Israel! It was a dream come true! As we crossed over the Allenby Bridge from Jordan to Israel I could hardly believe it…

Pic 2 Our friend, Julie, floating in the Dead Sea.

Pic 3 This is the area of Ein Gedi where David hid from King Saul in a cave! I Samuel 24.

I still remember as a child, 1947, hearing my parents talk about some old very important scrolls that were found… Of course as a child I didn’t understand the significance of the scrolls. We went to Qumran where those scrolls were written and then hidden for centuries.

Picture 4 are the ruins of where the scrolls were written

Picture 5 are the caves where the scrolls were hidden. Later on, in Jerusalem, we saw some of the actual scrolls, being preserved!
