Flower on Butterfly Bush

I’m actually feeling better today, almost all better. I spoke a sentence to Jerry a little while ago! First one! Progress! The spot on my tongue looks good.

Last fall we transplanted a Butterfly Bush from one location to our back yard. I thought it died during the winter but shoots came up this spring! Now it actually has flowers on it! I haven’t seen a butterfly yet but I’ll keep looking!

Now we’ve transplanted another bush. This isn’t transplanting weather or the time of year, but we were told if we didn’t come and get it, it would be tossed in the trash! It’s a Double Red Althea and is covered with buds! I don’t expect them to bloom this summer but if we can just keep it alive through the winter again, I’ll be happy. We’re watering it twice a day, morning and evening. We put it and the Butterfly Bush in the sunniest spot we could find.

We’re fixing our water fountain spot in our back yard, kind of redoing it. It’s going to look so good when we’re done. We can only do a little at a time because it’s a big job and we’re not exactly up to big jobs!

So glad you are doing better today. We transplanted out of season once too because our friends were going to put them in the trash. Most of it came back. There was one tree bush thing that flowers (don’t know what it is) that Steve and Don pulled up with a rope and the truck and a little digging. That actually came back the next year only not quite as full grown. Doing big projects in little doses is more enjoyable anyway. You can get it just right.

      Thanks, Karen.
I need encouragement! I want to only plant flowers that come up every year. We’ve gotten a pretty good start. I just hope this bush lives. See you tomorrow.

Sounds wonderful:). I love when plants surprise me and come up after I think that they are probably dead. And I also love how plants grow and bloom that I didn’t plant unexpectedly…maybe from some years ago or something. I too am trying to get to the point where everything just comes up every year…all perennial.

Thanks Ruth. My problem is I don’t know what are weeds and what are flowers that have stopped blooming. I’m afraid to pull them out!
