Grandma’s School Day # 17

Today I tried to do things a little differently. He wasn’t sure he wanted to do things differently! But I had some new things on my mind…

Counting out 100 pennies is kind of boring...

I had a box with lots of different items in it. As I took each one out separately he named what it was and what the beginning letter was. Like an airplane starts with a. Flag begins with f, etc. He was surprised at some of the items in the box. I’ll use new things each time. Armon thinks it’s a game but he has to focus and know the beginning sounds to help him with reading.

He read pretty good today, better then he knows! I’m concerned that when he gets to school he’ll have to learn a whole new set of names and words. Dick and Jane books aren’t used in school, so I’m hoping he’ll catch on to focusing onto the beginning letters and the rest too so he can sound out words. We’ve got a long way to go…

Armon loves counting out the money. He still hasn’t quite figured out that each set makes up one dollar. But when he understands…he gets to keep it all!

Almost finished...

You mean I get to keep it all?

A wonderful grandmother like you is nothing short of God’s gift to your grandchildren.
    God bless all of you!

Thank you for your kind words, Cheri. But believe me, I’m no better than all other grandmas. I just see a need and I’m doing what I can to fulfill it.
