Grandma’s School #4

Today I read The Raccoon and Mrs. McGinnis by Patricia Miles Martin. Armon likes having a book read to him. It seems to calm him and then he’s ready to study. It’s also opening his mind to the wonder of books.

He read better today then he has all week! So I’m seeing improvement. Yeah! We’ll have the weekend off and I hope he’ll be ready to begin again on Monday. We ended today with a treat. Vanilla ice cream with orange slices! His choice!

Today is the first day he’s compared my teaching with his teacher at school. That was not a good thing. He kept saying “Mrs. Johnson doesn’t do it like that.” “Mrs Johnson doesn’t read us a story every day.” “I didn’t write a story for Mrs. Johnson.” I simply replied with “This is Grandma’s School and we do things differently. Mrs. Johnson’s school is good but so is Grandma’s School. We’ll do things my way here.”

This morning he wrote a story about soccer. I think he’ll be good at playing soccer.

So ends our first week of Grandma’s School.
